Making Sense of Mental Health, Addictions and Faith

Presenter: Zach Hair, Ambrose Graduate

Upper Foyer

Psalms 88 arguably in my mind is the saddest, loneliness, and most relatable piece of scripture to those who battle with addiction and mental health on the daily. Did you know that in Canada suicide represents a relatively large percentage of all deaths for younger age groups (15 to 30). Did you know research shows that mental illness is the most important risk factor for suicide; and that more than 90% of people who commit suicide have a mental or addictive disorder. What would it look like as Christian believers to try and make sense of those things in life that don't quite make sense? How do we make sense of death, the thoughts I have, and my Lord and Savior who is present amongst all of the heart-ache?
