Here's a bit of information to help you understand how Legacy Youth Conference operates.
LYC is happening March 17-19, 2017 at Ambrose University in Calgary, Alberta. It is designed for high school students looking to go deeper in their faith. While the conference is designed for students in grades 10-12, students in Grade 9 can attend at the discretion of their group's Youth Pastor/Leader.
LYC is a training ground for our Ambrose students, who are responsible for the conference from start to finish—they’re the ones praying, planning, hosting, and leading. They love having this opportunity to serve Canadian youth as they learn how to respond to a constantly changing youth culture. LYC is a student-led event. Understanding the nature of this planning team is critical to your experience at this conference.
The leadership/planning team begins planning in September. As things are solidified, information becomes available. There will be bumps, glitches and mistakes made. This is an opportunity for the students to learn and grow in their leadership, in working with people, and in planning.
With grace, please allow the students to learn through this experience. We will do everything in our power to create a first-rate event that is a fantastic experience for your group. The weekend is priced accordingly.
REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! Registration is designed for groups only. This is simply because the conference itself is set up for groups. Adult supervision throughout the conference is to be provided by your group leaders. Our process is intended to be a simple as possible for the group leaders. Click here for more registration info for LYC 2017.
We will not collect names of individuals until release forms are submitted by the group leaders.
It is very likely that our conference will reach the maximum 650 delegates. The earlier you register, the better your chances are of getting in.
Included in Registration Cost
Registration includes Friday supper, Saturday lunch and supper, Sunday lunch, rallies, entertainment and seminars. Registration does not include breakfast. Some of our afternoon options will cost extra, while others may not. We will keep you updated on the options as the become available.
Unfortunately, registration refunds are not available to individuals or to groups. If anyone registered cannot attend, group leaders may contact us and request assistance in selling those unused registrations to another group. Often another group is looking to add one or two spots. We will not broker that transaction, but we will do our best to connect the group leaders to arrange their own transaction. We cannot promise a buyer will be found.
Staying in Residence
There is space for 250 people to stay on campus, Friday and Saturday evening. This now includes Saturday and Sunday light breakfast before rallies! A $10 per person/per night fee is added to the conference registration. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis only.
Understand that if you choose to stay in residence, you will be in shared accommodations. These sleeping arrangements require each person to bring their own sleeping bag, pillow & bath towel. You will be sleeping on the floor of our student residences. Showers and bathrooms are shared with our resident students; so respect and grace are necessary.
Supervision is the responsibility of your group leaders. Your group will be required to provide an adequate ratio of adults to students if you are to stay in residence.
