Central Planning Team of LYC 2008

Legacy Youth Conference has existed for over 70 years!

In keeping with the heritage of the Christian and Missionary Alliance and it’s missional roots, Youth Conference was started in 1946 to evangelize the community around Canadian Bible College’s Regina neighbourhood and biblically encourage the student body at the time. As CBC changed into what is now Ambrose University, the tradition of an annual youth conference continued.

LYC is a place where high school students (grades 9-12) meet with God and learn to go deeper in their faith. It’s also a training ground for our students, who are responsible for the conference from start to finish—they’re the ones praying, planning, hosting, and leading. They love having this opportunity to serve Canadian youth as they learn how to respond to a constantly changing youth culture. We hope you join us!

LYC is a student-led conference as part of a class at Ambrose. Students enrolled in the class begin the planning process in September and work hard to develop the weekend (from scratch) in less than 7 months.  LYC is not like other conferences. LYC is an opportunity for the student leadership team to learn. As a result, it might have glitches and bumps along the way... be sure the students will work hard to provide a first rate opportunity for youth to experience God in a life changing way. LYC is intentionally and strategically designed for the grade 9-12 students that want more.

You can expect:

  • inspired worship

  • solid Bible preaching

  • engaging challenge for life change

  • good food

  • great laughs

  • awesome people (like you!)

One of the ways we have structured our conference for ministry effectiveness is in attempting to ‘set the table’ for youth pastors and sponsors to have valuable ministry opportunities with the students they brought.
A vital part of this weekend will be the regular breakout/debrief sessions for your church group. Use these times wisely to align with what God is doing in your group.
